Description:
On May 13th 1607, 104 English men arrived to the new world. They decided to start a colony which they called Jamestown, Virginia. They named this town after their King, James I. The reason they picked this area had several reasons. The area was surrounded by water on three sides. This would help defend against possible Spanish attacks. The water was also deep enough that they could easily park ships near shore. The area was not inhabited by Natives either. The town set up a group of six council members and a President. The town built a fort that was completed on June 15. One of the captains was sent back to England to get more supplies.
