Description:
In Selma, AL, SNCC led a protest fighting for voting rights. They wanted to march from Selma to Montgomery (54 miles) but when they got to the Edmond Pettus Bridge in Selma, they were welcomed by the police who beat the protesters. This day was named "Bloody Sunday."
