Antoine Lavoisier was great when it came to experimentation. He was responsible for the first real breakthrough in studying chemical reactions; he discovered that mass is conserved in a chemical reaction. In a chemical reaction, the total mass of the products beforehand remain the same after undergoing the process of the reaction.
