SP- The Peace of Westphalia effectively and peacefully ended the Thirty Years War, but it also resolved several other conflicts that were present in Europe at the time. It formally made the Dutch Republic and the Swiss Confederation sovereign states, split up Germany into many (basically) sovereign territories, accepted Calvinism, and allowed freedom of private worship. It also added land to Sweden, France, and their allies, making France now the most powerful force in Europe. This was regarding states and other institutes of power because it decisively ended the fight for centralized power in Europe.
