Cortes was a very ambitious conquistador, who aimed to conquer as much as he could from the Aztec Empire. With 11 ships, 450 men, 16 horses, and ten cannons, Cortes was received at first very graciously by the Aztec emperor. Cortes burned his ships, to stop deserting, and exploited dissent in the empire to forge alliances that would help him achieve his goal. With the help of Smallpox brought by Europeans, the capital city of Tenochtitlan was besieged, and the rest of Mexica was easily conquered from there.Ajouté au bande de temps:
