19 sept. 1777 - The Battle of Saratoga

Description:

The Battle of Saratoga was an important event in the America Revolution. The British had decided they would launch and offensive on New York colony, and planned to have three separate generals with three separate arms advance on New York from three directions. But only the British general John Burgoyne's had actually made it to New York. The odds were against Burgoyne. Not only was he going up against the talented generals Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold, but Burgoyne's forces were outnumbered by 1,000 men. After several days of fighting, Burgoyne's army surrendered. This proved to the French that America had a chance, and encouraged them to join the war.
