Description:

On July 2nd, 1776, delegates of the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration of Independence officially declared America's independence from Britain. It explained why America had chosen to separate from Great Britain and stated that, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." The Declaration pointed out that people have rights that one can't take away or change, and that, "...these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."
