28 juin 1919 - Treaty of Versailles

Description:

Following the end of WW1, the Treaty of Versailles had been negotiated among the Allied powers, with very little contribution from Germany.

The terms of the Treaty of Versailles were as follows:
- Germany had to accept blame for WW1
- Germany had to pay 6,600 million pounds, for damage done in the War.
- Germany was restricted in having submarines or an airforce. They could also only have six battleships and an Army of 100,000 men.
- Germany would have to concede territory in the Rhineland, Alsace Lorraine and the Baltic Corridor, all areas given to other states.

With these harsh repercussions, Germany had felt severely betrayed. Society heavily protested, and the sentiment acted as the foundation for change, change in the form of Adolf Hitler and Nazi leadership.

* In the same year the Weimar Republic is formed.
