Description:
Charles V held a diet (assembly of nobility, clergy and cities of the HRE) at the city of Worms (in Germany), summoning Luther in 1521). While Luther was supposed to be excommunicated and banished, he had taken advantage of the printing press to spread his idea, whipping up a public fervor. His appearance at Worms created a greater platform for his ideas, and sparked interest in individual movements against the Catholic Church throughout Europe, further spreading his ideas.
