IMAX is a system of high resolution cameras and began with a group of Canadians in the early 1970's, it was only used in documentaries as the equipment was too large and heavy to make blockbuster movies.

As it began growing into the early 2000s people realised the potential of IMAX. Christopher Nolen had a huge impact with the making of 'The Dark Knight'. He used IMAX cameras to shoot some of the scenes in the movie and showed that IMAX can be used in blockbuster movies and IMAX is currently the best way to experience a movie and most films get released in IMAX today. Of course to shoot a whole movie in IMAX would be a challenge and no one had Attempted that until 2018.
