1 janv. 2397982 av. J.-C. - Homo Habilis "Handy Man"

Description:

Homo Habilis has become much closer to modern humans than Australopithecus. Also known as "Handy Man", these hominids have begun to create their own stone tools. Although their technology has vastly increased, Homo Habilis does not yet hunt, but scavenges for its meat instead. One major advancement in these mammal's daily lifestyle is also their use of fire. Although Homo Habilis used this ancient technology, they did not create their own fires. Instead, they found in the aftermath of trees that were struck by lightning. Homo Habilis lived in Eastern and Southern Africa. This group lived for around two and a half million years. Recent studies have shown that Homo Habilis may have coincided with Homo Erectus for almost a half a million years.

Primary Source Inference
One primary source for Homo Habilis is of a fossilized foot. One inference that I have made is that this foot has begun to have a curved arch, much like the foot of a modern human. This suggests that this hominid may have walked more like Homo Sapiens Sapiens, and less like Australopithecus. (Watch from time point 0:18 to frame 0:31) The video explains that Homo Habilis has begun to create its own tools. This shows that Homo Habilis may need to depend on different food sources than Australopithecus, hinting that Homo Habilis may have had a bigger brain size and body size than Australopithecus.
