28 sept. 1918 - 4th Liberty Loan Parade: Spanish Flu from September-November 1918

Description:

The Spanish Flu, thus named for the fact that while many countries had a moratorium on talking about the highly virulent flu virus going around Spain did not, killed roughly 50 million people worldwide with the largest number dying during the second wave of the influenza that occurred during this time. Laws requiring masks, schools and public buildings being closed, some places even trying to have businesses opened in staggered shifts to prevent crowding; the parade in the title happened in Philadephia where a large number of people came together and ultimately caused thousands to be exposed, killing 7,600 people to die in Philadephia alone in 14 days.
