11 juill. 1935 - Becky Sharp released

Description:

Becky Sharp was a musical film directed by Rouben Mamoulian that was the first feature length film to be shot in 3 strip technicolor.

Technicolor is a colour film process that started in 1916 with many different versions of the process that improved on the previous process. The most famous process that gave the best colour was the 3 strip process.

The 3 strip process is called that because the camera used to film using this method filmed the scene onto three different strips of film that were sensitive to one of three colours, one in green, one in blue and one red. These negatives would then be coated with a complementary dye, The red using cyan, the green magenta and the blue using yellow. These were then over layed to give a full colour image.

This process was important to film making as gave a way for film to be shot in full colour and would then be built on to make it easier and cheaper to do.
