Jason and the Astronauts (1963, dir. Ray Harryhawson). The skeleton battle scene in this film was created using complete stop-motion animation.Furthermore, A Space Odyssey (1968) began pushing VFX boundaries; miniature sets and set pieces, hand drawn rotascopes (these are devices that project and enlarge individual frames of filmed live action to allow them to be used to create cartoon animation and film sequences).
