6 juin 1960 - AMERICAN NEW WAVE

Description:

The American New Wave began with the releases of The Graduate (Mike Nicholls) and Bonnie and Clyde (Arthur Penn) in 1967.
These films saw less influence from their production studios, and more influence from their directors, instead. This allowed new brands of creative authorship that differed from the expectations that people had of film.
As a result of the directors taking creative control, films began to explore subjects that were previously considered to be 'taboo', such as sex and violence.

Notable New Hollywood Directors: Francis Ford Coppola, Stanley Kubrick, William Friedkin, and Bryan De Palma.
