1 janv. 200 av. J.-C. - Quill Pen
Description:
Who: Historians are not completely sure when quills were first made, but the Dead Sea Scrolls are the first writings that show evidence of being written with a quill pen.
What: They made from the feathers of geese, swans, and turkeys. The bottom of the feather was made into a hollow shaft to hold ink. They were used to write on parchment which was less brittle than papyrus but could not be folded and were rolled up.
Improvements: It only took one step to fill a writing surface with ink whereas the bronze stylus needed to scratch the characters out and then be filled with ink.
