Description:
Ashoka is the grandson of Chandragupta Maurya, founder of the Mauryan empire of India. Early on in his rule, he conquered Kalinga, the only remaining opposition of the Mauryan empire on the subcontinent. During the rest of his rule he unified his empire with roads, a system of laws, some centered around Buddhist values, irrigation systems, and a capital with a central treasury.
