Creepy yet cute trolls were one of the most popular toy fads of all time. The Troll Doll was a collectible item, and children had shelves full of the little dolls with the bright, colourful hair. The product was sold in Denmark in the year 1960, and gained popularity over the course of the next few years in Europe. It was introduced to USA in the year 1963, when the company's sales soared.
Troll dolls were invented by Thomas Dam; a dirt poor woodworker from Denmark. Since Thomas could not afford to buy his daughter a Christmas gift, he carved her the first troll doll. When the other children in the village wanted a doll as well, Thomas began selling the troll dolls. After gaining popularity in Europe, the product was introduced in America and become one of the biggest toy fads of all time.
