9 nov 1935 - 3 Strip technicolour was invented.

Description:

3 strip colour consisted of the colours: Yellow, cyan and magenta overlaid black and white to create colour film.
It was invented by Herbert Kalmus, an American scientist and engineer. Later in 1939 a film using technicolour to its fullest was released called 'Gone with the wind' and celebrated the invention of technicolour with rich colours and visuals which accelerated the use of colour by influencing the use of rich, vibrant colours.
Because of this technology, origionally black and white films, could be colourised. This discovery was made by Daniel Comstock and Burton Wescott, They found that it was based on the kinemacolor, recording in two colours (red and teal) using only one lens. There was a light and colour filters and althought his was a huge step for colour films, it ended up having many difficulties in the projection of the film in the theatre.
