Born in Trujillo, Spain. Pizarro was born to the royal family of Spain and would later become ruler of it. In his early life, Pizarro went on many voyages of reconnaissance and exploration, soon coming in contact with the Aztec Empire and later going to war with them. He set out with a band of conquistadors and in In 1532, accompanied by his brothers, Pizarro overthrew the Inca leader Atahualpa and conquered Peru. Three years later, he founded the new capital city of Lima. Over time, tensions increasingly built up between the conquistadors who had originally conquered Peru and those who arrived later wanted to stake claims in the new Spanish province. This caused a civil war to break out better Pizarro and another man named Diego Almagro. ALmagro would later capture Pizarro and execute him.
