The protest was done to both promote civil rights, and draw attention to the massive amount of segregation and disparity between white and African American races. During this time, there were violations of human rights, and unveiling of the deep rooted evils of segregation that attracted international media attention. IT would lead to the Birmingham bombing, done by kkk members.
