- Day 40
- The invaders start firing at them so they run deeper into the trees. Brian tells Penny to stay quiet and he spots an invader coming towards them. Philip and Nick flank the man, Nick uses a rock to distract him and Philip knocks the guy out with the butt of his shotgun. Brian looks away as Philip smashes the guy's head in with the butt of the gun.
- Philip tells Brian that they're going to take the house back and to keep Penny safe no matter what. Brian decides to stay and hide with Penny. He spots 'Shorty' with half of his head blown away and Tommy running out the house towards them.
- Another invader comes towards them so Brian gets Penny up and runs. They hide behind an old wagon but the invader blows half of it away with a sawed off shotgun. Brian runs away with Penny but discovers that she took most of the shot. He tries to patch up the wound but blood is everywhere. The tattooed invader taunts Brian as Penny dies in the dirt.
- Philip blows the invader's head off and goes to Penny's side. They know its too late. Philip grabs Brian and beats him up against a tree. Brian wants to die.
