27 déc. 1831 - Charles Darwin went around the world and change his life completely

Description:

Sadly for Darwin he has a small cabin and fought seasickness through out the entire trip. One of the places that HMS Beagle visited was the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of South America there his first discoveries were fossilized oysters that he found on land. But Darwin was confuse because why would marine animals be on land.

Darwin noticed that the islands has several species of mockingbird. They were similar to the mockingbirds that he had seen in South America. He saw three different types of mockingbirds in each different island. Darwin also notice that the shell of the Galapagos tortoises display different patterns. Darwin was concerned and studied the giant tortoises that live on the different islands of the Galapagos. For the first time Darwin understood that animals adapt over long periods of time due their environment.

He was impressed when the Governor of the islands said that he could tell which tortoise came from out of the three islands. The Galapagos Islands was very interesting for Darwin and helped him form his theory of natural selection.
