Founded by Edward Edwards - Library Clerk at British museum; George Godwin jnr - Architect and later editor of 'The Builder'; Henry Hayward - dentist; Lewis Pocock - DFirector of Life Insurance Company and Inventor.
The Union had a network of agents up and down the country (spreading news and collecting subscriptions)
