1 janv. 1032 - Disunity of al-Andalus

Description:

This disunity occurred during the period of Taifa. During this period, it consistently led to weakness and the decline of the caliphate. Al-Andalus was divided, vulnerable to invasion, and politically dependent on outsiders. From the beginning, al-Mansur ibn Abi 'Amir led the power of Umayyad Caliphate who was an advisor of Umayyad court. This is because the successor of Umayyad Caliphate was not ready to lead since he was just 10 years old. Al-Mansur finally reached a peak of the Muslim power after three decades, but later on, it gave consequences about the decline of the importance of the caliph himself towards al-Mansur's territories. After he died, the monopoly of al-Mansur was disunited because the caliph was not giving it as authority to lead the territory and they began to fight each other to be as a leader. This is led to the independent states in Iberian Peninsula as known as the Taifa period. In the South part of Iberian, many of the kings were from wealthy Arab families and they started to fight their individual desire to increase their own power. Due to Muslim power chaos, the Christians Kingdoms took the chances to involve and help them in Iberian Peninsula until the Taifa kings did not afford to get help from Christian’s army.
