Who: A swiss doctor who worked with Pasteur in France
Accomplishments: Plague outbreak in china, travels to china and discovers the bacterium that proved plague. It was named 'Yersinia Pestis' after him and it proved the plague. The bacteria was shaped like a rod and he discovered that it was highly pathogenic (which means it can cause disease easily).
