After being contacted by a brewery, Pasteur discovers the existence of both the large yeast cells and the smaller bacteria in bad batches of alcohol. This leads to the further of germ theory, allowing for scientists to start researching whether it is germs that ultimately cause disease, moving forward from the discoveries of Leeuwenhoek and Semmelweis.
