In the late 90's the economy of the in the Internet was booming and rampant speculation swept the nation as vast amounts of money was invested in internet companies. However, starting in 2000, this bubble of speculation burst and many online companies went bankrupt or lost more than 50% of their shares as the economy collapsed, sending many programmers out of job and dissillusioning the pblic about the internet.
