Description:

George Heilmeier created a liquid crystal display screen in 1968. In 1969, Fergason developed his own liquid crystal display, using, what he termed, a "twisted nematic field effect." Fergason received a patent for his invention on December 14, 1971
There are multiple technologies that have been used to implement liquid crystal displays (LCD). Throughout the 1990s, the primary use of LCD technology as computer monitors was in laptops where the lower power consumption, lighter weight, and smaller physical size of LCD's justified the higher price versus a CRT
