11 févr. 1891 - People’s Party
Description:
Founded in 1891 with leaders consisting of James Weaver, Williams Jennings Bryan and Thomas E. Watson. The People's Party (also known as the Populist Party or the Populists) was an agrarian-populist political party in the United States. For a few years, from 1892 to 1896, it played a major role as a left-wing force in American politics. The populist party gained national attention when they supported Democratic nominee William Jennings Bryan as their presidential candidate. One of the reasons this led to a decline in the populist party is because nominating Bryan alienated the African-American populists, causing the whole party to collapse in 1908.
