This system eventually would be built upon by later generations of Egyptians, Europeans, etc. There are differing types of precision balances, such as the Spring balance, the weighing platform or Roman, the analytical balance, the counterbalance, or the medical balance. The first balance that did not use counter weights was invented in 1770 by Richard Salter
