People started studying how weight gain in infants can increase a child's chance of being obese later in life. This author believes that increased weight gain in a child's first 6 weeks of life can result in an increase in the child's chances of becoming obese later in life. They believe that by feeding a child breast milk instead of formula, and monitering a child's weight gain, parents can reduce their child's chances of becoming obese.
