30 nov 1909 - Ernest Rutherford
Description:
Known as the father of the nuclear age, shot positively charged alpha particles at gold foil, if Thomson's theory was correct, they would shoot completely through, however some bounced back. This caused him to conclude that atoms are mostly empty space with a small nucleus of positive matter, with negative electrons.
