1 janv. 1767 - Townshend Acts
Description:
The British aimed to exert control over the colonies they believed they deserved. The Townshend Acts were also a way to collect taxes to pay various judges and governors in the motherland. The colonists responded with boycotts, petitions, and newspaper attacks, outraged at the prospect of Britain indirectly taxing them and collecting revenue. The lack of representation in Parliament also added to the colonist’s outrage, as they insisted that this was unrightful since they had had no say in the acts whatsoever.
