Description:
After many colonist-led government were created in defiance of the royal government, Virginia called for a intercolonial committee. The first Continental Congress met in September 1774 in Philadelphia. During the meetings, a statement of grievances and demand to repeal oppressive legislature in was sent to the king. Military preparations were made, and it was agreed to boycott British goods. The Congress planned to meet again in the next spring.
