The Battle of Yorktown took place in Yorktown, Virginia. One major significance this battle was that a major British general, General Cornwallis, surrendered to George Washington, with the help of the French and American forces. This was a major event, as this led to the end of the American Revolution, later leading to the Treaty of Paris in which the British recognized the independence of America. The result of the battle was the end of the Revolution, as the American forces, with the help of the French, had defeated the British effectively winning the war.
