Description:
A coded letter from Germany written to Mexican officials was sent and intercepted by the United States; it discussed creating an alliance between the two countries in order to invade America.
This was the event that ultimately got America directly involved in the war; once our country was threatened so directly, Wilson took quick actions declaring war.
