Description:
"Massachusetts slaves, represented by a single signatory, Felix, petition the government for their freedom: 'We have no Property, we have no Wives. No Children. We have no City. No Country. But we have a Father in Heaven.'
Similar petitions flooded the colonies preceding and during the Revolutionary War."
