Description:

On May 1st, 2017 University students of the University of Puerto Rico held a protest against the university budget cuts and closings due to the financial debt of the island.(The debt of the island comes to around $123 billion in bond debt and pension obligations) 8 of the 11 schools accreditation was put on probation and internal government documents have stated that of the $900 million budget, there will be cuts between $241 million and $512 million by 2026.
