Description:
Places duties on foreign sugar and certain luxuries; its chief purpose is to raise money for the crown (to pay for the French and Indian War); a companion law provides for stricter enforcement of the Navigation Acts to stop smuggling (those accused of smuggling are to be tried in admiralty courts by crown-appointed judges without juries)
