Description:

The Harrison Act developed as a result of The Hague Conference and is called the, "single most important piece of drug legislation ever enacted in the United States" (Goode, 43).

Dr. Wright and Representative Harrison resolved to right a bill that would end the nonmusical use of narcotics.

The law stated, "any and all dispensers of narcotics and cocaine had to be licensed physicians and were required to register with the government and pay a nominal tax" (Goode, 44).
