Tensions between the 13 colonies and Britain continued to rise, resulting in the Battle of Lexington and Concord which kicked off the American Revolution. Hundreds of British troops marched to Concord to seize an arms cache. They were intercepted by the Colonial militia and the fight started resulting in the British retreating under intense fire.
