14 juill. 1801 - Louisiana Purchase

Description:

A land deal between the United States and France, in which the U.S. acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million. The Louisiana Purchase gave more land in the West which the South wanted slavery in the west while the North didn't want slavery expanding West and was afraid that they would be over ruled if slavery took over the South, this caused much sectional tension and was a major event that led up to the Civil War.
