24 sept. 1945 - 1943-1944: The University of Pennsylvania ENIAC
Description:
Constructed in 1945, ENIAC is considered as the first computer by some. Carried out by the University of Pennsylvania, ENIAC was thought that it would perform a specific set of calculations over and over, such as determining a missile’s trajectory using different variables. But the end of the war meant that the machine was needed for many other types of calculations—sonic waves, weather patterns, and the explosive power of atom bombs.
The combination of speed and programmability allowed for thousands more calculations for problems, as ENIAC calculated a trajectory in 30 seconds that took a human 20 hours.
