a. Remove British troops from the Suez canal-The fact that Nasser got the British to agree with this made Nasser seem very strong to the international community
b. Nasser’s prominence entices the US- They want to have him on their side rather than the soviets and do this by supplying weapons and the US agrees to act as a mediator with Israel
