R and B, also known as Rhythm and Blues, is a type of popular music was typically in African American communities and originated in the 1940s. R and B became popular and is associated with the 1950s to the 1980s. It usually contains a piano, base, one or more saxophones, drums, one or two guitars, and background. The lyrics in R and B reflect the African American culture including economic struggles, dreams or longing for freedoms.
