-Led by Nathaniel Bacon
-Bacon represented the backcountry and disagreed with tidewater leaders about policies regarding natives
-Bacon excluded from inner circle of governor's council (Green Spring) and could not get involved in fur trade
-After facing a raid from the Doeg Indians, a group of whites attacked them and the Susquehannock, causing the Indians to continue raids
-Fighting escalated and Berkeley wanted to be cautious, but Bacon ignored him
-This turned into a challenge to colonial government as an army was led to Jamestown, a city burned, and Berkeley exiled
-Berkeley returned as governor after Bacon died and British troops came
