7 mars 1616 - Headright System

Description:

-Virginia Company was not experiences much profit and wanted to encourage settlement by giving away headrights (50 acre plot of land)

-Existing colonists got 100 acres of land, new ones each given 50 (encourages large groups)

-Additional headright given to those willing to pay for another person's voyage

-Colonists had to pay 1 shilling each year to Virginia Company

-Virginia Company also sent skilled workers and women and gave colonists more rights
