Description:
Made provisions for the mentally defective to be transferred from Poor Law institutions and prisons into newly inaugurated labour camps (pre-empted by Winston Churchill propagating this in the House of Commons) Repealed the Idiots Act 1886. At the height of its operation, 65,000 people were placed in "colonies" or in other institutional settings.
