Description:

A Spiritual Christian group known as the Doukhobors had been prosecuted in Russia for centuries, until 1893. When the struggles gained international attention and the Empire was criticized for its treatment of this religious minority.

The Russian government agreed to let the Doukhobors leave the country under a number of conditions;

1.) The emigrants could never return to Russia upon their leave.

2.) They had to emigrate at their own expense.

3.) Leaders currently in prison or in exile would have to serve their sentences before they could leave.

While a few fled to other nations, mainly to British Cyprus, the vast majority of the Doukhobors fled to the wide, empty lands of the Kingdom of Vesperia.
